Amiga Memories For Modern Systems and Devices

In 1985, Commodore released the Amiga 1000 and the computer world never be the same.

The Amiga featured co-processors to handle video, audio, and disk input/output tasks, leaving the CPU available for just computational tasks.  Amiga’s operating system featured a windowed GUI, like Mac and Windows, but unlike those, AmigaOS was centered around preemptive multitasking.  Together, the specialized hardware and software made Amigas incredibly efficient machines for the era, despite the fact that their CPU clock-speed was slightly slower than some competitors.  The Amiga set-the-bar for future computer design – built around multimedia hardware and with a multitasking operating system.  More than that, the Amiga was simply a fun computer to use, in contrast to the utilitarian feel of Windows and DOS, or the monochromatic precision of the early Macs, or the static, neon-green, experience on the Atari ST.
